Joomla read more not working? Turn off Magic Quotes.

Joomla 3.0 is great, but you may find yourself at times wondering “how do I do this” or “why isn’t that working.” I found myself in this situation when trying to get the “read more” inserted in a article to work. I thought I would have to disable the WYSIWYG editor but I was using the default Protostar template so knew there had to be a better way.

The read-more-line needs to be on it’s own line but even after doing this it seemed that the WYSIWYG editor puts code into the code:

visit this site right here <hr id=”system-readmore” /> was being changed to site de rencontre seniors gratuit non payant sans inscription ouistreham <hr id=”\&quot;system-readmore\& les sites de rencontre perte de temps quot;” />
You may also be experiencing other issues with quotes in Joomla, the cause is Magic Quotes. Joomla 3 requires magic quotes to be disabled. Before you contact your website host on how to do this in your environment, the following simple fix may work as it did for me.
In your .htaccess file ad the following code to it’s own line:
php_value magic_quotes_gpc off
